Opening
Night Review:
"Our
church (Wheaton Bible in Illinois) hosted the first stop
on the tour last night, and it was marvelous. Many ways
we could measure "success," but these were the
most important: People "got" the message that
children are still starving, that the poor and oppressed
are still poor and oppressed, that evil is alive and well
and trampling on the rights of far too many. Justice and
compassion and social action -- all in the name of Jesus
-- are our necessary response, and the AMJ tour is doing
an excellent job communicating that from the stage. Hearts
were stirred, people responded, God was glorified. Yes,
the music was terrific, but this is SO much more than just
a "concert." This is an event about things much
bigger than merely the music. I hope every fan on this site
can make the show -- and bring 10 friends along too. It's
an evening that can literally have eternal significance
-- not just for you, but for widows and orphans and the
oppressed around the world. Don't miss it."

Postcards
From Lowell
I am currently one year into my three year journey toward ordination
as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) through
the TEEM (Theological Education for Emerging Ministries) program. As
I serve in various intership assignments this year, I want to stay in
touch with my Bethany family. So, I've started a blog! These are postcards
from the road Im now traveling - notes about the things God is
teaching me and the lessons I am learning. They are meant to inspire
discussion, so I invite your participation and encourge you to accompany
me in my travels. Read
my posts and tell me what you think! Love, Lowell
Study
on Suffering - September 16, 23 and 30
We will review the book of Job and selected New Testament sources to
gain a clearer understanding on where God is when we suffer and how
we can faithfully respond to extreme challenges in our own life and
in the lives of family & friends. We will meet for 3 Tuesdays in
the Chapel from 7-8:15pm. Please come and learn in a friendly, supportive
environment. No need to pre-register but bring your Bible and please
let me know if you have any questions. Love, Lowell
Men's
Fraternity - Beginning in September
The Quest for Authentic Manhood
Tuesdays at 7pm with Pastor Mark beginning September 23, 2008
This 24-session study focuses on the primary issues that shape a mans
life, explores in depth the biblical concept of manhood, and provides
practical building blocks for any man to use to construct for himself
a nobler, more satisfying manhood.
Winning
at Work and Home
Fridays at 6am beginning September 26, 2008
Winning at Work and Home, a 16-session study, focuses on the two areas
